We arrived late and did not have a reservation. The front desk agent reduced the walk-in rate to just above an online travel site offering with a quick check in with the manager. The hotel has every amenity you would hope for in a four diamond property but at a State Park Lodge rate (winning combination). The kids loved that the indoor pool and hot tub did not have a curfew; we loved that they could get out some energy after hours in the car. This resort is only a few minutes off of the highway and a much nicer overnight stop than the usual roadside motel for a comparable rate. The Christmas decorations enhanced the luxurious lobby.
We would have loved to have hiked what looked like extensive options or used the list of amenities but maybe next time!
Great Thankgiving buffet. Spacious rooms, great views, friendly, efficient staff. Between the gift shop and Christmas store, we crossed some gifts off our list. Employed the wine tasting in the lobby and then sipping a glass parked a the hearth.
We stayed one night at the resort. It was a great time! We are excited to go back with the kids since we saw the family fun room, the awesome pool and the playground. All staff encountered were super sweet and helpful.
A high quality resort that is especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves change color. We really enjoyed sitting by the fire pit in the evenings, nicely located facing a beautiful lake. There are 3 restaurants to choose from, a very nice indoor swimming pool, and the staff is great. One of the better places to stay in West Virginia.
The room was fully functional, clean and updated. There was a sign indicating guestroom renovations were in process but we could not see any inconveniences due to this.
Note that it does require a fair resort fee above any quoted rates. It does not include breakfast but offers room service, a full service breakfast restaurant or a coffee shop with pastries and the best made-to-order yogurt parfait I've ever had (we checked out Thanksgiving morning and these options were all available).
The resort lies in a great nature direct at a lake. Everything available what you need to feel good and get a rest (restaurant, pool inside + outside heated, shop, nice trails and nature). Enjoyed it very much with the family (wife and 1 year old boy)
